Radiation background in the Administrative building area is in average 65 microrentgens per hour, in the Shelter object's Observation pavilion area - 1,08 myllyrentgens per hour.
Controllable parameters of the Shelter object are within the limits established by Operational Regulations. According to monitoring systems data the maximal value of gamma - radiation rate inside the object has made 3403 Rontgens per hour, temperature near to Fuel Containing Materials is +29 degrees on Celsius. Exceeding of control levels of Shelter object condition parameters is not fixed.

ISF-1

Reconstruction of transport-technological part of Interim Storage Facility (ISF-1)

Financing of works is carried out for the costs of State Budget of Ukraine.

Contractor on the Contract “Development of design for reconstruction of transport-technological part of ISF-1” — JSC “Kiev Scientific and Design Institute” “ENERGOPROEKT” (Ukraine)

Reconstruction of current transport-technological part of ISF-1 is foreseen by “Conceptual decision on ISF-1 decommissioning. Phase I. Reconstruction of current transport-technological part (TTP) of ISF-1 with the purpose of spent fuel assembles (SFA) discharge”.

Interim Storage Facility-1 (commissioned in 1986) is intended for receipt and interim storage of SFA transporting from reactor facility after preliminary storage in cooling ponds (CP). At present in four compartments (there are five compartments altogether) of cooling ponds more than 17 thousand of fuel assemblies are there that is ~99% of storage design capacity. The fifth compartment of ISF-1 CP (capacity is 4300 of SFA) is in reserve.
This design of ISF does not foresee the procedure of reverse spent fuel discharge from ISF-1.

The purpose of reconstruction for transport-technological part of ISF-1 is ensuring safety performance of transport-technological procedures on reverse spent fuel discharge from ISF-1, their loading to transport container and transporting to ISF-2.

The following tasks are implemented on this design:
• analysis of conformance (deviations) of ISF-1 constructions, systems and elements of being in force normative documents on nuclear and radiation safety has carried out;
• geological - engineering surveys of ISF-1 site have carried out;
• survey of building structures, systems and elements of ISF-1 has completed;
• calculated substantiation of ISF-1 building structures has prepared;
• project of structure and content of “Safety analysis report of design for TTP of ISF-1 reconstruction” is agreed.

The “Design for TTP of ISF-1 reconstruction” sent to State Enterprise “Ukrgosstroyexpertiza” for expertise. At present there is a process of defects elimination.
