    Fire did no damage to Chornobyl NPP

    In the past 24 hours, numerous fires have continued within the Exclusion Zone, resulting in the fire approaching the Chornobyl NPP’s facilities. In fact, the points of fire outbreak were situated near villages Novyi Myr, Stara Rudnia, Klyvyny and Chystogalivka where burning of grass, reeds and forest litter was observed.

    In the area of ​​Chystogalivka village, due to a rush of wind, the fire spread through a fire barrier line and an automobile road and, by passing the area that used to be called "Red Forest", reached the Yaniv railway station, located 2.2 kilometres from the Chornobyl NPP.

    ChNPP considerably reduces the number of working personnel for the period of quarantine

    In pursuance of Presidential Decree No.87/2020 regarding prevention of the COVID-19 coronavirus distribution, ChNPP administration made a decision to transfer the Plant’s personnel to special regime of employment starting from March 19.

    At least until April 3, 2020, more than 2.5 thousand ChNPP’s employees will not be present at their workplaces neither at the ChNPP site nor in the enterprise’s office in Slavutych. Only operational personnel maintaining the nuclear and radiation safety at the Plant will remain at the workplaces.

    Restriction of visits due to coronavirus

    We would like to inform you that Chornobyl NPP restricts familiarization visits for all countries citizens to Plant’s territory until at least April 3, 2020.

    Such a decision was made in view of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine resolution “On Prevention of COVID-19 Coronavirus advance in Ukraine”.

    For those who have already booked a visit through the service visit.chnpp.gov.ua, it will be proposed to postpone the date to another period, or if the postponement is not acceptable, the visit will be canceled and the cost will be refunded.

    In addition to the visits, ChNPP administration will restrict the international missions of its employees abroad and technical visits of foreign specialists to ChNPP site.

    Visit of Deputy Minister Roman Abramovskyi

    On February 18, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine Roman Abramovskyi officially visited Chornobyl NPP and introduced the Acting Chairman of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management Kateryna Pavlova.

    Introducing new Chairman, Roman Abramovskyi held a meeting with managers of the enterprises belonging to the management field of the Agency, emphasized tasks and strategic areas of activity.

    Moreover, during visiting the industrial site of Chornobyl NPP, the Deputy Minister inspected a new container wagon Skoda to be used for transferring spent nuclear fuel from old wet-type storage facility (ISF-1) to new dry-type interim storage facility for spent nuclear fuel (ISF-2).

    ChNPP plans to initiate this process in March this year during “hot testing” of ISF-2. The “hot testing” envisages the transfer of 186 spent fuel assemblies to new storage facility which after processing will be disposed into concrete storage modules.

    Creative Idea and Image-Building Project Contest New Vision of Chornobyl NPP Announced by ChNPP

    The objective of the open international contest for the best creative idea/image-building project is to cultivate a positive image and to enhance the public image perfection of the State Specialized Enterprise Chornobyl NPP at the national and international levels; to involve the public and public organizations in resolving the issues associated with public image perfection of ChNPP as a key enterprise of Exclusion Zone; to support non-governmental initiatives intended for enhancement of ChNPP public image.

    Contest is arranged for support of projects in such areas as follows:
    - PR – marketing projects (ideas associated with enterprise promotion with information and communication media: advertising, various PR-actions, exhibitions, forums etc.);
    - SOC – social projects (ideas of cultural, educational, ecological, sport content etc.).

    End date to admit the applications for participation in the contest is March 15, 2020.
