This year’s topic is “Nuclear Energy: the Challenges of War” – the urgent issue amid the full-scale war unleashed by russia against Ukraine.

The conference was opened by ChNPP Technical Director Oleksandr Titarchuk: “Without a doubt, the year 2022 will join 1986 as one of the most tragic in the history of the Chornobyl NPP. The ChNPP occupation, which lasted for more than a month, led to material losses, destruction of logistical ways of ensuring the work of ChNPP, and social and psychological consequences for the staff. In his address, the Minister called to remember the tragedy of 1986 and make the right conclusions out of it.

“2022 divided the world into two: one has been struck with fear of the possible consequences of nuclear terror in Ukraine, and the other has been unfortunately financing it. I would like to thank all those who stayed on their workplaces and continued doing their job. As it is very important today during the full scale invasion and the fight against ruscism that everyone was in their place, did their job and fought their battle for the sake of a strong and independent Ukraine”, — said the Minister.
