Specialists of Chernobyl NPP’s Construction Services completed inspection of Turbine Hall building constructions in place of partial collapse of the light roof. Experts of the Research Institute of Building Constructions (NIISK) and Kiev Institute "Energoprojekt" (KIEP) are involved for in-depth technical survey and covering design development.

 

In the morning February 15, 2013 Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Oleg Proskuryakov visited SSE "Chornobyl NPP" site to familiarize personally with the situation occurred due to partial collapse of Unit 4 Turbine Hall roof and wall panels.

Accompanied by Chairman of the State Agency for Exclusion Zone Management Mr V.Kholosha and General Director of SSE ChNPP I.Gramotkin, Minister examined the place of destruction, which was followed by the meeting on the activity of investigation commission, organization of works for roof and walls repair, planning of activities aimed on strengthening of building constructions control.

As on February 14, 2013, a change of radiation situation on Chernobyl NPP site and within the Exclusion Zone is not recorded.
The scheduled works are being implemented at ChNPP, and the personnel works as planned.
Two commissions are working to investigate reasons of partial destruction of building structures of the Turbine Hall. One commission is created by SSE ChNPP General Director’s Order, and another one is established according to the instructions of SNRIU.
